Quinten August 04, 2017 for Model Number KGYS750GQ1 New igniter cycles, just like the old one did. Gas valves open, with 2 new coils installed, just like it used too. Dryer gas, mostly, does not ignite as igniter times out ,,, but the gas keeps flowing . I can smell it and light it. Then occasionally the machine appears to cycle normally and the gas does light. Checked for lint blockage, there is none. Replaced the igniter and coils, still no joy, where do I go from here?
1 Answer Quinten, You will want to check the burner assembly to make sure that the ports on the burner are not clogged up and make sure that there is not rust on the burner. R.J.F. May 19, 2017 for Model Number LG6881XSW1 The dryer turns on but does not heat. The igniter glows and turns off. No flame. I checked the solenoids with an ohm meter and they appear to be within limits. I didn't see the valve stems moving though. How do I know the problem is the gas valve? It is an expensive part not to sure of. Can I manually depress the 2 valve stems after the igniter glows and see if gas flows?
1 Answer Hello R.J.F., Tampering with the gas valve is not advisable. If the ignitor is glowing red or orange it is not pulling a strong enough current to open the gas valve. The ignitor should glow yellow to white hot for the electromagnetic field to be strong enough to open the gas valve. If it is not glowing in this manner, replace the ignitor 279311. Wayne March 26, 2017 for Model Number WGD4800XQ1 Gas ignites but goes off in about 30 seconds. Drum keeps turning. 1 Answer Hello Victor. For a no heat issue, it can cause the timer not to advance and turn off. Try fixing the no heat and see if the timer starts working. If not, replace the timer. For the no heat issue, You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter to see if it is good. If it is not glowing, test for power. 1 Answer Hello Bob, This unit has as high a likely hood of a gas leak as any other gas unit out there. I would make up a gas leak solution by putting one teaspoon of liquid soap, (or a little less), to a quart of water and spray it on the gas lines. 1 Answer Tim, Your going to need to check and clean the exhaust vent and vent hood, check and remove any debris from the blower housing and internal exhaust pipes and check the tumbler seals for tears and holes. Once all's checked then consider the regulating thermostat WP694674 and the hi limit switch 279048. The way this dryer operates on an "auto cycle" The proper temperature has to be maintained, if there is an air flow problem or the thermostats "open" before the temperature is reached, the timer will not advance. Bill Fortner November 23, 2012 for Model Number 110.74982300, Kenmore Elite Dryer stopped heating and diagnosed as gas valve issue. Ordered original part 8318281 replaced by W10480542. Sears sent a box with W10480542 on outside but only labeled part inside was W10304604. Your web site shows the W10304604 as AP5631292 and Mfg number W10500695. What model does this belong on or does it go with Model 110.74982300 and is W10304604 a subpart of W10480542? I have talked with Sears supplier 8 times now and can't get anything in terms of technical information and 3 more boxes of same numbers. Thanks, Bill
