The starter rope is a generic part that is used on all pull-start lawn and garden engines. The rope attaches to the starter grip handle or starter knob, which is usually made of plastic, as well as the starter housing on the engine. When the starter handle is pulled, the rope causes the starter spring and the pulley to react, engaging the flywheel and allowing the engine to start properly. Over time, the rope can become frayed, worn, or damaged. The starter assembly may also seize up or stretch the rope. In any case, it should be replaced immediately with a genuine replacement like this part. This OEM starter rope is compatible with select engines from Briggs & Stratton and can be found on over 150 engines in generators and lawn mowers from Toro and Briggs & Stratton. The rope is made of durable nylon and sold as an individual unit. Although it is measured to exact standards, it can be cut if there is any excess after attaching the rope to the starter grip handle. This part can be replaced without any tools, although a knife or scissors may be required to cut any excess rope. This part is sold as an individual unit and does not include the starter grip.
This part is discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available for purchase.
