Todd F Arlington , VA December 01, 2016 Samsung refrigerator ice maker frosting up I replaced the ice maker after replacing the ice try and before that the ice chute gasket. All easy fixes. However, I am still seeing some frost build-up leading me to believe that the issue is just a faulty design, which I have read other posts on. Just too much warm air gets in the ice maker because it is located in the refrigerator, plus warm air probably finds its way from the outside dispenser, up the chute into the ice maker. Oh well, nothing the occasional hair dryer won't take care of, but Samsung messed this one up big time. Allen H Bellevue , NE February 19, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF263BEAESR/AA-0000 Icemaker stopped making ice After removing the ice bin, remove the screw holding up the bottom of the ice maker. Next, removed the screw holding plastic cover on the left side. Slide cover forward to remove. Disconnect large electrical connector behind the cover and free cable from clips. Lower the bottom of the ice maker to reveal freezing coil. If there is ice build up in the back of the ice maker, use a hair dryer to melt away ice. (Do not use on high heat.) To remove the ice maker, push down on top clip while pulling unit forward. It will slide a short distance before dropping. Carefully continue pulling the ice maker, sliding it along the freezing coil. Install the new ice maker by performing the steps in reverse. Time: 5-10 minutes (longer, if there is considerable build up of ice). Michael B Clayton , NC December 20, 2014 Appliance: Model SAMSUNG RF263BEAESR/AA Damaged ice maker The entire process was simple. I removed the old unit by removing the screw on the right side of ice maker, depressed the tab at the top center of lce Maker and pulled it out. Then I removed the side panel for wiring and disconnected one leading to ice maker. Received new icemaker and installed it within twenty minutes. You will not that the screw you removed is not included with the new unit for good reason. To make the connection with the coil that freezes the ice, the unit opens length wise and closes like a jaw around the coil. The most difficult part was squeezing the front together to align the screw hole and latch on the left side. If you can get the latch to snap the top and bottom together, the screw hole will align perfectly. Attach wiring and panel, push reset button on the right side of ice maker and you are done. Make sure to turn the water on. Read More... 46 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
