Robert B Chesterfield , VA February 08, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Washer WA400PJHDWR/AA-0001 The original drain pump mounting device broke washer only 3 years old flooded the room First, I got help with the online chat at AppliancePartsPros. They provided me with the proper part for this repair. THANKS! With this kit, it took me about 2 hours (with a couple of breaks) to replace. The wiring harness had to be replaced, as the new drain pump is mounted in a different location. There are no instructions in the kit, so you have to figure out for yourself how this all goes together. The new pump motor assy mounts onto the frame of the machine - on my washer, there were already mounting locations on the plastic frame. This wasn't difficult, but it was time consuming, mostly replacing the wiring harness, but overall better than having someone come out and do it. Even under warranty it would have probably cost $300 minimum to have this done. The original pump assembly is really a piece of junk. In fact, I'm not at all impressed with Samsung. I won't buy another one. So much plastic. Our SS tub split on the bottom about a year ago. Brad H King Of Prussia , PA September 01, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Washer WA422PRHDWR/AA-0001 Original pump shook loose from drum and was destroyed Although the original pump was affixed to the base of the wash drum, this new kit follows a design change by Samsung where they relocated the pump to the washer base. You must install this pump to the base of the washer, near where the old pump was. There are already screw holes on the base. Make sure and install the rubber thing first or you won't be able to get at it if the pump is in the way. The tube to the base is stretched more than I would like to see, so I anticipate a trip to home depot to replace the tube within the next few months. Also, I didn't replace any of the wiring harnesses and I used the old yellow+black wires from the original pump. Your mileage may vary. The wires have less range of motion (pump is further away) so unless its your washer I'd highly recommend replacing the whole wiring harness that it comes with so you don't risk the wires breaking loose during spin cycles. I needed a #10 metric wrench to take the original bolts off of the drum. They were tight as heck. I used a monkey wrench to pinch the hose clamps to get them in place. I actually replaced one of the hose clamps with a screw type clamp for added tightness on the tube running from the drum to the pump. This is the tube that I think is manufactured too short. For inspiration I also referred to the following video, which had some great pointers: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/samsung-drain-pump-dc31-00054a-ap4202690.html My washer is back online and working well. Mike W Knoxville , TN June 17, 2014 Appliance: Model SAMSUNG WASHER WA400P JHDWR/AA Washer pump broke from wash tub Had to take entire frame base off and attach the new "improved" pump to the base. One hose was barely long enough to reach the tub. I super glued the hoses and used screw clamps instead of the pinch clamps.Working fine for now. Lionel C Kenner , LA March 07, 2016 The drain pump broke off its mount There were no directions but it was pretty obvious that this pump was not going to fit on the bottom on the tub like the last one. I found some mounting holes on the bottom corner near the drain line and it fit perfectly. it came with a new wiring harness because the wires for the pump were now not long enough. It was easier to simply cut off the old connectors and splice some wire to make up the length.
