The repair itself is pretty basic, remove broken parts and replace with new, but the process is much more challenging on the freezer door than on the fridge side since the water lines are routed through the hinge. This is definitely a two person job and you will be laying on the floor to do it. 1st thing is to turn the water off and remove the ice bucket. Remove top trim piece and release upper hinge assembly, support the door. The top hinge must rotate up to slip over the wiring bundle, reassembly is the same and there is a plastic sleeve over the wiring that you must slide the hinge over from the top down, it is too large to fit through the slot. Put some towels on the floor to capture the water that will drain from the two water lines (color coded). There may be RED safety clips on the door side of the couplers, slide these out before trying to unplug the hoses. Push in on the hose and coupler ring, then hold the ring in while removing the hose. You will need help here, lift the door up and off of the hinge while pushing the hoses up through the hinge plate. More towels since the ice tray and other water will drain, lay the door on its side and replace the cam pieces as required (one screw each). Reassembly requires help to push the hoses through the hinge plate while the door is lowered into place. Reattach the top hinge assembly, swing down to engage wires through slot and slip hinge over plastic sleeve and check to make sure the door works correctly. Reconnect the water lines, push the hose fully in to the stop (couplings are clear so you can see) and install safety clips. The clips are a must if the coupling has been disassembled. Turn the water on and check for leaks. Replace the trim pieces. The refer door is much easier since there are no water lines but this can be done with a little help and some patience.

I had to remove the freezer door and replace the cam hinge risers on the bottom of door. Everything went smooth the parts are perfect just like I ordered. Like new again.

I read the manual to find out how to take door out. Removing went smooth, replacing part was easy and reinstalling door was easy. Good you had parts, Samsung did not want to sale this elements and they said it had to be done by serviceman. Thanks!

Found small broken pieces of black plastic around the bottom of the freezer door one day and that’s when the problem started. Ordered the bottom bracket, cam hinge riser (upper and lower) to have on hand before tackling removing the freezer door. Turns out that the bottom bracket was ok but the lower cam hinge riser that attaches to the bottom bracket was broken. It is held in place by a single screw. After removing ice maker bin and everything else off the door, I unplugged the refrigerator, temporarily taped the top of the door shut. I disconnected the quick connect water lines located at the bottom edge of the freezer, and top hinge hardware. With a second person, carefully remove the tape and lift up on the door and place on a blanket or beach towel. If the lower cam hinge is broken, it will be very obvious because the hinge is stationary on the fridge.
