Duane O Holmen , WI August 19, 2014 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF263AEWP/XAA The unit is not two years old yet and the evaporator motor has gone out twice already it makes a rough sound when the bearing is going than that area fils up with water and freezes I took all the items out of the refrigerator. Removed the screws that hold the cover over the evaporator motor. Than for three hours used a hair drier to remove ice. The panel was frozen on if you pull on it it will break. Soaked up all the water removed the panel and took the fan blade off. That was difficult because it looks like a regular screw head however, you need to push in that which will cause it to release the blades and than push it onto the new motor. Than replace the panel put the items back in and start. I should order another motor for next year now. James S Pearland , TX August 25, 2014 Freezer fan motor failed Samsung doesn't provide much in the way of help for this type of repair. (for obvious reasons) wasn't sure at 1st how to access the fan motor. Removed the lower panel on the back 1st. No access, but had the opportunity to clean that area. Opened the freezer door & realized that the drawer and storage compartments would have to be removed to get access. Plus the ice maker would have to be moved to gain access. didn't have to disconnect the ice maker just removed the 2 2 screws that held it up. After removing the 2 screws that held the back of the freezer where the fan was attached it was somewhat challenging to remove the back plate because of the styro-foam insulation that surrounded the backplate. This needed a lot of pulling because it was wedged in tightly. Once it was loose had to disconnect the power connection from the back of the freezer. Then the back plate was removed. Access to the fan motor was easy 1 screw. Disconnected the power plug from the fan motor. Wiggled the fan blade assembly off inserted the new motor. Replaced the fan blade & put it all back together.
