Ice dispenser was skipping so not dispensing ice Del H. • Midlothian , TX • September 03, 2018
The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. This coupler in turn rotates the auger in the bin to dispense the ice. I removed the motor coupler & shaft, tapped the coupler loose and filed off the rust. This allowed...

Icemaker causing solid blocks of ice to form in the bin and down the walls of the freezer Lance B. • Gallatin , TN • April 10, 2017
The amount of water being dispensed into the ice cube tray was excessive, causing overflow of the tray. The water then ran into the collection bin and even down the side walls of the freezer creating a huge block of ice in the bin, and ice all over the lower shelves as well. The excessive build up of ice caused the cube tray to crack and also split the little silicone water grommet that connects to the water delivery tube which directs water into the cube tray. Look out for that little tube...

Tl;dr: Watch the repair video FIRST. This will take you less than 15m if you do watch the video. You need to remove a door panel, you can't directly replace the icemaker. Even without doing that, it took me less than 30 minutes. 4 screws, a panel removal, a couple of computer-style power plugs, and you'll have ice again no problem. Stupid easy.
Initially, we did the button reset on the old icemaker, and it didn't beep or anything, so that was enough troubleshooting for me to replace the...

Our 21 year old frigidaire refrigerator refused to make ice. Lindsey M. • Burlington , KY • August 31, 2018
After about three months of returning to my youth, filling ice cube trays, I decided to venture into the freezer and yank the old ice maker from its mounting. Since this was the third time this very ice maker had decided to stop functioning, it was time to get a replacement. I suspected the heating element was open and the motor was screaming trying to push the little frozen blocks of ice from their form, with distortion occurring. I ordered a replacement from this very company, received it...

Amana model afd2535deb freezer cold fridge too warm not defrosting Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 09, 2015
Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. Obviously, the auto defrost cycle had not been running, or was short-cycling. Manually defrosted. Found this link for running diagnostic tests on the...
