Lance B Gallatin , TN April 10, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS257BARB/XAA Icemaker causing solid blocks of ice to form in the bin and down the walls of the freezer The amount of water being dispensed into the ice cube tray was excessive, causing overflow of the tray. The water then ran into the collection bin and even down the side walls of the freezer creating a huge block of ice in the bin, and ice all over the lower shelves as well. The excessive build up of ice caused the cube tray to crack and also split the little silicone water grommet that connects to the water delivery tube which directs water into the cube tray. Look out for that little tube grommet when you are inspecting your ice-maker assembly as it is easy to miss. After removing all the built up ice from the freezer I could see that water was continually dripping from the delivery tube into the ice cube tray which caused all the overflow. The water inlet valve assembly, which is controlled by electrically operated solenoids was not completely shutting off the water supply to the ice maker. I replaced the defective water inlet valve, the cracked ice cube tray and the damaged silicone grommet that had fallen off of the water tube and into the bin. The ice-maker works like brand new once again. NOTE: The water inlet valve I received was updated with an extra device that looks like a small electrically driven water impeller added to one of the outlet ports of the valve. My earlier model fridge did not have provisions to connect this extra device so I left that part of the valve disconnected. The valve assembly still worked exactly like my original water valve so no worries there if your earlier model fridge does not have the extra wiring required for the little water pump to operate. Double check for leaks and proper operation before buttoning up the backside of your fridge. David C Wichita Falls , TX June 17, 2015 Water overflowing into ice bucket Samsung refrrigerator. it started when the setting was on cubes but was putting out crushed ice. then months later the water refill was running down into the ice bucket causing a massive block of ice in the bucket. look closely at the first two or three cubes in the ice tray after they unload. mine were not dumping and staying in the tray. when the water refill kicked on it would overfill the tray (because of the leftover cubes remaining in the tray) and would run down into the ice bucket and the problem would repeat itself over and over. the new flex tray from appliance parts was the fix. the old one had lost some of its flex and was not letting go of those first three cubes causing the problem. installed new tray and now have nice full cubes in my ice tea. the parts arrived in TWO days!! thanks APP Read More... 239 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Lonnie V Arab , AL November 11, 2014 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS267LBBP/XAA-0000 Ice tray was broken We awoke to a flood in the kitchen. I traced the flood back to the fridge door ice dispenser. I found the ice tray frozen in a sheet of ice in the bottom of the ice container. I took two Philips screws out of the front of the ice maker then slid the entire unit forward to detach it. I unplugged the ice maker and let it thaw out on the front porch in the sun. The round protuberance at the back of the ice tray was broken off completely. I ordered a replacement for my Samsung fridge from AppliancePartsPros.com on one day and it came the next day! I replaced the ice tray in the ice maker and put it back together. My family and I now have an operating Ice maker again. It actually works better, so I think it may have been defective all along. I didn't even have left over screws! LOL! Read More... 34 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Keith M South Burlington , VT April 18, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RB195BSSB/XAA The fridge was freezing everything while temp readout on front was still showing 38 degrees f I started by ordering the temp sensor and replaced the sensor in the fridge which did not resolve the issue. Replacing the sensor was very simple. I just had to remove everything from the refrigerator compartment and then remove 6 screws to pull the back panel off. There were some additional screws on the back side which needed to be removed to allow me to replace the temp sensor. This is a fairly cheap part but I recommend testing the sensor with a multi-meter and checking the Ohms while the temp changes. There are videos on how to check them online, they are also referred to as thermisters. All mine checked out OK. In the end I also started having issues with my freezer and fridge warming up then freezing again so I ordered a main control board (Part # DA41-00293A) which solved the issue. Replacing that was super easy as well. Read More... 9 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
