Located near the compressor unit, the overload protector functions to shut off power to the compressor if temperatures become too high during operation.
Causes can include normal wear over time rendering it less responsive to temperature changes. Mineral or refrigerant deposits may also impede its ability to detect overheating conditions accurately.
