Refrigerator and freezer not cooling. Tom C. • Dorchester , MA • March 06, 2021
Tested start relay and fan with multimeter both passed.
The condenser would start only if the thermostat was on the highest setting and the refrigerator would cool for a while, stop and not restart unless I adjusted the defrost timer. Decided to replace the thermostat, defrost timer and defrost thermostat. The refrigerator is working as expected. FYI on a Kenmore 59669142992 the defrost timer is located under the freezer in the front right.

I called a local appliance service person, who diagnosed the problem as a bad main power board and offered to fix it for a substantial sum. I found the part on Appliance Parts Pros and found it on my doorstep 2 days later (even though I only used the standard shipping option). Although Appliance Parts Pros did not have any instructions about how to install the part, I found a youtube video by ApplianceVideo.com that explained the procedure in sufficient detail. The entire repair start to...

Simple. Just pulled out the old and popped in the new. Rangetop looks much better, though grates and burner rings (no longer available) could use repainting with heat resistant enamel or some other treatment.
