Agitator not turning or spinning? This cam assembly converts motor rotation into agitator movement. A common DIY fix when upper agitator won't engage.
Simple by using 7/16 socket with long extension to remove the bolt and pull the whole agitator out and clean them. Put back in together with new parts. It works fine now. Read more

Replaced dogs & cap seal. I also replaced Spring retainer since it was worn and I had it apart. Easy repair. Used a screwdriver to pop off fabric softener cap. socket to remove the agitator. I used a flathead screwdriver to remove the spring from the retainer. I cleaned everything and reassembled. It was a very easy repair. Saved at least $100. doing it myself. Agitator won't move or slips during wash? A worn drive shaft causes weak agitation. This shaft transfers motion from the gearcase to restore firm engagement.
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. Fix a burnt or melted lid switch connector causing your washer to be completely dead. This terminal receptacle restores power to the lid switch.
Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!)
