This plastic lever connects the dispenser mechanism in a washing machine, actuating the release of detergent or fabric softener at the correct point in the wash cycle. It transfers mechanical motion to open the dispenser at the proper time. Replace this lever if your washer is not dispensing detergent or fabric softener, or if the lever appears cracked or broken.

Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam.
