Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. After some trial and error, I located the screws which were 5/16 hex head screws and removed them with a MAGNETIC nut driver. Fixes grinding noise or basket won't spin issues by disengaging the brake during spin cycles. Restores smooth operation when cam wears out or breaks.
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. Size: 8 foot long. This external washer drain hose is needed when there is more distance between the washer and the drain. Note: comes with 1.5" diameter clamp but hose is 1.25" in diameter; therefore you may need to order the 1.25" diameter clamp separately: WP356138

This is a small lever or catch that engages the door switch when the dryer door is closed, signaling the dryer that it is safe to operate. It also interacts with the belt switch mechanism to detect proper belt tension. Replace this part if the dryer does not start when the door is shut, runs with the door open, or if the lever is visibly broken or worn.

Ordered new part. watched repair instructions on UTube. repair went well. Struggled with the grommet that holds the wiring harness. Didn't see that another grommet comes with the switch and wiring harness. Read more
Spin tube assembly with drive spacer, bearing, and shaft seals. Replace if washer leaks from bottom or basket doesn't spin properly. Verify fit.
