Replaces a broken, worn, or damaged oven door hinge on your range. Allows the door to open and close smoothly. Order if your hinge is cracked or bent.
I replaced the hinges. The door just slides up, after opening it slightly. Each hinge is held by three screws, and has a spring hooked to the inboard end. After removing the screws, I pulled hard on the hinge, to get the spring hook exposed. The long tang, on the spring, allowed me to hook the new hinge onto the spring, before unhooking the old hinge. My oven door hinges both broke. The metal on the frame of the oven bent and tore, eventually the hinge metal broke too since it was out of alignment. I bought two replacement hinges with good metal (remember to get one left hinge and one right hinge-the description doesn't clarify that and they look nearly identical). Tappen Gas Stove circa 1981 (uses Fridgidaire parts). Unplugged stove from 110 wall outlet. Spark control module located on back side of stove about mid-way down on left side under a black cover that juts out. Black cover had 2 phillips head screws...removed the black cover and the spark module was right there...held on by 2 additional phillips screws.
