Snapped the old cover off and installed the new one. Although this is a simple fix the hard part was to determine appliance product year. Apparently the part was redesigned after a certain year and two types were available. Range hood light won't stay on or flickering? Loose or melted light socket is often the cause. This socket assembly plugs into the main harness. 5-minute fix.
I pulled out the wiring harness for the bulb and really inspected the sockets. (The wire connections on one of the sockets were really loose and the inside of that socket was a little melted.) I replaced the light wiring harness and sockets. It was a really simple fix. I turned off the power to the range hood at the breaker box first. I removed the filters and the light bulbs.
