Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leak from 1986 Maytag washing machine   Michael C. • Petaluma , CA • February 08, 2019

I removed the front cover and saw water a rusted out drum cover clamp. Water gushed out at this point when i operated the machine. I ordered a new clamp and seal from Appliance Parts Pros, which arrived quickly. I wire-brushed the drum and it's cover clean, in the sealing area and installed the new seal and clamp. NOTE do not set the cover down all the way down, or the tub will not "spin". Leave 3/8- 1/2" clearance between the top of the tub and the upper cover. I chose to fix my old... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Sticking/seizing agitator output shaft leading to belt failure leaving washer inoperable   Jason L. • Lees Summit , MO • September 24, 2014

Perfectly! Replacing Agitator Shaft is not for the faint of heart. Replacing output shaft pinion gear on the bottom of the agitator shaft requires care, experience and patience with pressing/driving drift pins without damaging the gear itself. As best as I can tell the pinion gear is discontinued and no longer available so take care!... Read more

I took the cover off the transmission and determined that the only possible knocking had to be coming from the yoke. I ordered a new yoke and all the tub seals needed to put it back together like new. I also ordered a new drive pulley bearing because this bearing is always turning whenever the washer is used. I cleaned all the parts up while I was waiting for the new parts to arrive. I promised my wife I would make it look like new. I installed all the new parts in one day and let the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Pretty much everything   Charlotteanne Y. • Kingston , IL • August 06, 2018

Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older"... Read more
