I wanted to avoid pulling the drum. Luckily, my blower was easily accessed by pulling the front bottom panel. A couple of sheet metal screws were all I needed to remove the fan housing cover. I knew the fan was on reverse threads, i.e. righty-untighty. As it spins it tightens so no need for a retaining nut. I took off a screw holding on the exhaust tube and wiggled it out. Originally the dryer was squeaking a lot, so I purchased a new belt tensioner, but the original tensioner was an old-style no wheel tensioner, so that wasn't the source of the squeaking. First ran the built-in diagnostic tests. Got error code indicating that the inlet thermistor was open. Removed lower access panel and did continuity checks on the inlet thermistor, thermal cutoff and heating element. This lint filter catches lint and debris during the drying cycle to maintain proper airflow through the dryer's exhaust system. A clogged or damaged filter restricts airflow, which forces longer dry times, increases energy costs, and creates a fire hazard from lint buildup in the vent system. Replace this filter if the pull handle is broken or cracked, the mesh is torn or separating from the frame, rust or metal flakes are visible on the screen, or lint is passing through instead of being trapped. The filter is white, measures approximately 20 inches long (excluding the handle) by 8.5 inches wide, and slides directly into the lint filter slot -- no tools needed, takes under a minute.
