Symptoms of a bad Knob Clip include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
I actually called a repair service in our area. The serviceman asked questions and detected that I didn't need a timer unit but thought it was just a knob that was required. He offered to come out but the expense would be considerable. I am SO relieved that it was indeed the knob, and the dryer was fixed. In this time in our lives, every penny counts. I must applaud the serviceman for his honesty and dedication to his trade. He directed me to this website, but also added if there were any... Read more

We cleaned out all ducts carefully and did other basic troubleshooting but it did not help. Began to research the problem on-line and discovered that this dryer has two heating elements. One can fail while the other continues to provide heat - but with a large impact on drying time. Watched youtube videos and how to take apart the dryer to reach the heating coils. Tested the heating elements for continuity with tester and the outer loop had no continuity indicating it was broken somewhere. ... Read more

Front support assembly
My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I found a manual online that covered my model and I watched a video on this site that showed me how to take it all apart, mine was a bit different but the principles were the same. I took it apart and added some quick-disconnects to 2 wires so next time I can take the front panel off easily. When I got to the bearing it looked worn but not bad so I cleaned it and put it back. ... Read more
The repair was easy and completed within 30 minutes. I also replaced the drum bearing pads. Because of the worn parts, the drum actually cut thru the existing light socket wires, so I probably could have just spliced them together to fix, but . Since I already purchased a new light socket assembly I just replaced it with the new one. Everything is installed and works great. Read more
The fix was simple...just put the knob on. Read more
Replaces a cracked, rusted, or disconnected exhaust duct that routes hot air from your dryer to the home vent. Restores proper airflow and venting.
Removed front of dryer and back access plate allowing me to see that the pipe just slipped over the blower. A small tab in the back cover was inserted inside the left side of the pipe and when I straightened the tab I could move the pipe to the right and then straight out. Replacement of the pipe was the reverse. The new pipe did not have a hole for the tab, so I bent the tab to its original position, and rested the pipe against the tab. The new pipe had a rear flange that kept it in place.... Read more
