After finding an excellent video on Youtube that addressed the exact problem I had, I ordered: a defrost heater and also replaced the Thermo Bimetal-Protec, and a sensor. The biggest problem was getting the ice that had formed on the back of my refrigerator to melt. You do not have to take the bottom pan off. Raise the side up and put a block of wood under it for safety. Take hacksaw blade or bolt cutter and cut off bent end off axle. Push out old axle. Install new one, crimp the end and your are done. 10 to 15 min. No problems at all. Read more
I've cleaned the drain tube numerous times. Always freezes and plugs. Added a defrost tab down into drain tube, missing from factory. This time defrost heater bad. Replaced heater, bi-metal switch and temp sensor. Great service and next day receipt of parts. Thanks ! Read more

Replaced the heater, easy job. Had to cut the old one out based on how it was installed. The new one needed to have the wiring rerouted. Zip tie in place The only issue is it needs the little metal strip that attaches to the heater. I had ordered one, so no problem. There is no hardware included to clamp it on.
