Steve H Moyock , NC February 10, 2019 Frig was freezing up around the coils Replaced the heater, easy job. Had to cut the old one out based on how it was installed. The new one needed to have the wiring rerouted. Zip tie in place The only issue is it needs the little metal strip that attaches to the heater. I had ordered one, so no problem. There is no hardware included to clamp it on. It is predrilled, so a small screw did the trick. Hopefully this is fixed.. wait and see Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Paul D Madisonville , LA April 11, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GFSL6KEXALS 8 year old GE refrigerator not cooling properly and icing up Followed the suggestions/advice of Appliance Parts Pros. Probably overkill but thats fine. i replaced the bimetal sensor, heater metal sheath and circuit board. A service technician wanted $500 labor plus parts which cost me about 500 with shipping. Im sure his would have been at retail. New box would have been $2400 plus tax and hassle. Looked at video and performed the plug and play transfer in about 45 minutes which included food and shelf removal and through cleaning. Good idea as some of those hidden goodies were three years old. Im no mechanic or technical wiz, but it was simple and box now works like new. Thank you! Gordon A Buzzards Bay , MA September 16, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Refrigerator GFSF6KEXABB The defrost heater needed replacing I had an ongoing issue with the fresh food section of my refrigerator not defrosting. Neither my local tech nor the manufacturer's tech could find the problem. The defrost heater showed there was a circuit. However, I was able to access the diagnostic program (which neither tech used!) and discovered the problem. I ordered the part on a Monday. It arrived next day and was easily installed the same afternoon. I then ran the diagnostic again and no other problem presented itself. I am especially satisfied with the service at AppliancePartsPros.com. BTW, I have tried other services for parts and am greatly dissatisfied with these other suppliers One final caution is be careful if you use the manufacturers schematic to order parts. There are errors on them. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
