Felt pad.
Removed front wall of dryer, disconnected electrical from wall(first thing). Disconnect front door switch, remove tub, remove felt, clean, used compressed air to blow out all dust from heater assembly. Used compressed air to blow out all lint catch line parts. Used electrical contact cleaner to clean all electrical connections where dust and lint had gathered. This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors.
