Weekend laundry became very noisy, our 1987 Whirlpool washer began doing a dance across the floor and the drum was banging into the inner cabinet. After doing some research and watching a few videos on Appliance parts pros website. I inspected the washer and noticed one leg the rubber coating disintegrated, decided to change all four legs, springs and lid switch. Hardest part of the job is getting the cabinet together. I simply removed and replaced the bake element and light bulb. The only difficulty I had was working around the open oven door. I relied on the Appliance Parts Pros videos for procedures on how to do this safely and correctly. I would not have attempted this repair without the videos. At first i just bought the belt, started dryer and off came the belt, and yes it was in place,looking at the idler arm it had a lot off back and forth movement so i ordered the whole assembly but the spring which no one has.put it all together again but drum barely turned.. so back apart and belt was in place. took the idler spring out cut 4 loops off it re did the end so it would hook on idler arm.and that did the trick.runs like new.
