Research indicated that it may be a moisture sensor failure or a leak. It ended up being a leak from the oil seal on the motor shaft. A small piece of plastic made it's way into the system. The hot water softened it enough that it wrapped around the motor shaft, re-hardened, then tore into the shaft seal. I fixed it by replacing the shaft seal, moisture sensor (corrodes when it gets wet), and replaced the sump seal since I had it disassembled. Read more

With the door front off, during the drying cycle you could see drops of water ennng down the exhaust, dripping on the floor. The design allows for some water but not the amount we were seeing. Replacing the complete assembly fixed the problem. This is the complete detergent dispenser assembly for a dishwasher, responsible for holding and releasing detergent and rinse aid at the appropriate time during the wash cycle. It includes the dispenser housing, lid, and internal mechanisms. Replace this assembly if the dispenser door fails to open during the cycle, detergent is not dispensing properly, or the latch mechanism is broken or cracked.
Removing the door panel was easy -- remove 6 Torx screws, and the panel falls off. Next you need to remove an electrical plug and 2 individual wires from the old dispenser. The plug came right off, but the wires were not easy to access, and they fought me more than I expected. With some pliers and wiggling, they eventually let go and came free.
