I searched the internet for people who had the same symptoms and looked at what they replaced to fix the issue. Turned out I needed to replace the board-switch, which I ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com. It came very quickly. I also watched a YouTube video that showed a couple of tricks to easily remove the part from underneath the refrigerator. The ice maker on this fridge has had several well-known problems since new. For quite a while, it would over-produce ice, get jammed up, and stop working completely even after the ice was emptied.
