Dishwasher had begun going through the cycles with not enough water in the chamber. Suspect was the water inlet valve. Checked the AppliancePartsPros video for this repair and ordered the valve from them. It arrived in a timely manner -as usual- and I pulled the dishwasher out, removed the kick toe cover, then the structural brace behind it then removed the valve. I replaced the pump and motor assembly. I also proactively replaced the fill hose while I had the dishwasher out since it was decades old. GE now only sells a generic kit. There were about 7 different sets of directions for different groups of models, and myriad adapters and other parts to support all of them. I wish GE had provided a way of looking up which instructions to use based on model # as that would have saved me a lot of trouble sorting out the instructions, but I didn't find one.... Read more

Replacing the spring allows the door to open and close as the manufacturer intended. I'm an amateur DIY. I replaced the filter gasket also as the 13 yr old one was looking pretty shabby. It's not an exact replacement, and I did break one of the plastic pieces that is part of the hold down assembly. For the filter gasket -- look at the aluminum piece on the grommet that holds gasket in place, bend that carefully and remove it so as not to break the plastic that holds it down. Read more
