The motor hummed but the fan didn't turn. Clearly the brushes were burned out. I ordered a new fan, although I had to talk to a human at ApplianceParts because my model was not listed. The part was a perfect fit. The only problem is determining how to remove the over to reach the back, no instructions anywhere online. But trial and error eventually worked.
