After watching numerous videos I was able to discern that the problem was with one of the following: the timer, the heater, or the thermostat. a short time check showed me that the timer was working so that narrowed it down to the other two. Not having the necessary tools to check those two I ordered both parts. In addition to blown fuse; the fuse holder was melted at one end. Checked the unit to see if any part or wiring that would cause the issue, none was visible. Referred to wiring diagram included inside to identify components, including interlocks. All seemed functional. Bought replacement 20A fuse. Fuse holder no longer available so bought similar unit with 25A rating - little retrofitting. Put unit back together, and it's working so far. Wife is happy. Read more

I replaced the Relay-Ptc and that solved the problem. I could see that there was a problem with the relay because it was arcing inside and you could see a glow coming from the inside. when I removed it from the compressor I shook it and I could hear it rattling and news for sure it was the problem Read more

Temporarily stuck a BMW lug bolt through the bracket and pivot opening to secure the door on the base, then waited just 3 days for the exact parts to come in from AppliancePros. At first, I suspected the evaporator fan motor was going bad, but when I went in to check it out, I found the evaporator coils totally frozen up; the fan was cavitating. I defrosted the coils completely and checked everything out. By process of elimination the Defrost timer had to be the culprit. I unplugged the timer and sure enough, the motor winding was open. Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions,works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old.
