The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. Unscrewed front control panel on oven, lifted it and pulled it out from the wiring/control area without disconnecting anything. Disconnected the Halogen Lamp Assembly. Measured 120V at the mating supply connector. Deduced the Halogen Lamp Assembly was therefore bad since it was getting power but wasn't lighting a lamp. Unscrewed the Halogen Lamp Assembly inside the oven and pulled it down a little. Fed the connector of the Halogen Lamp Assembly back into the oven compartment being careful... Read more

Tried replacing the bulb, but the porcelain socked was damaged. Found AppliancePartsPros with a google search for oven parts. Using the site, it was easy to locate the light assembly using the oven model number. The part came in just a few days and was easily replaced. The replacement fixture was complete - even had a bulb!. Only had to remove two screws, unplug the old fixture, plug in the new fixture, and replace the screws. We did turn OFF the power during this.
