Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE profile in wall oven gave F 9 code and would shut off after 30 minutes   Matthew M. • Fairfield , CA • July 23, 2018

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. AppliancePartsPros.com is one of the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door wouldn't close.   Timothy S. • Middletown , NJ • July 20, 2018

Tenants in rental unit explained problem, I ordered replacement hinges for both the left and right. After replacing both, it was determined that a cleaning person removed and didn't reinstall the bottom heat plate of oven back into position, which was the reason the door wasn't closing. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door would not finish closing on its own as it had before (exterior door "fresh food side")   Alice H. • Wickenburg , AZ • August 18, 2017

1) By using google to find videos on why the door wouldn't close, I found out I needed new cams, those same videos also showed how to remove and replace the door. 2) Then by googling the fridge model number and the word 'cam', I was able to find the parts. 3) Taking the door off was simple, I needed a phillips head screwdriver to remove the hinge cover, however the screws in the hinge plate were so tight, I needed a side handle socket wrench to loosen them. 4) The door itself is not hard to... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Convection oven screeching noise when warming up   Michael H. • Newtown , PA • October 13, 2019

The oven was so loud, it was hard to talk to someone in the kitchen. We replaced the motor and the fan blade. 1. Turn off power to the oven. 2. Remove the oven doors 3. Remove the cover for the fan. 4. Turn the fan blade nut clockwise to loosen( it's opposite of normal) - Save the nut and the small clip that is behind the fan as you'll need them again. 5. Remove the screws that hold oven to the kitchen cabinet frame. 6. Slide oven out of kitchen cabinet and place on the floor - it takes 2... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven door wouldn't close tightly new hinges didn't fix the problem   Paul S. • East Wenatchee , WA • October 26, 2020

All of the information on the web repair sites said "replace the hinges as the springs are worn out." Didn't fix the problem. The top of the door still wouldn't seal, and the. Leaning latch wouldn't catch the door unless you pressed on the door. The inside panel of the door was fatigued. Too many turkeys were set on the door over the years. The hinges are attached to that inside panel, so the stress points were bent over time. I replaced the inside steel panel. Took about an hour. Was able... Read more
