The Microwave Door Switch is an OEM part for GE microwaves, designed to prevent the microwave from operating when the door is open by interrupting the power whenever the door is not securely closed. The door switch is an essential safety feature.
Symptoms of a failing Microwave Door Switch include:
Causes of a bad Microwave Door Switch can result from repeated opening and closing of the door or slamming that can cause the switch to degrade or become misaligned, leading to intermittent or failure.
This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.
The first symptom was our microwave would continue to run after the time was up. The light would go out, the turn table would stop but you could still hear the microwave running and whatever was in it would continue to cook. The only way to stop it was to open the door. It was intermittent at first but eventually it would always run no matter what as long as the door was closed. Several other posts referenced these switches as the problem. I just replaced both and problem gone. It turns out... Read more
This is a monitor or interlock switch that detects whether the microwave door is properly closed before allowing the unit to operate. It is a safety device that shuts off microwave power if the door is open or if other door switches malfunction. Replace this switch if the microwave does not start, runs with the door open, or blows a fuse when the door is closed.
Illuminates your microwave interior for monitoring food during cooking. Replace when bulb burns out or dims. Verify fit with your model number before ordering.
Ordered two new bulbs and replaced them. The lights have two settings and only one bulb was working on the dimmest setting. The repair was easy. The new lights are so bright and arrived quickly. I will definitely order again. Read more
Holds the light bulb securely in your microwave for proper interior illumination. Replace if bulb won't stay in place, socket is burned or cracked.
I recently tackled a repair on my GE microwave (model JVM1440BD003, manufactured in 2003) to replace the light bulb sockets for the under-microwave lights. Since one socket was failing, I decided to replace both at the same time to avoid future issues. I used two WB08X10016 light sockets, which are the correct OEM parts for this model. The process started off smoothly thanks to a helpful installation video on the website. It made the job look straightforward: remove five screws to drop the... Read more
Controls exhaust airflow in over-the-range microwaves. Replaces bent, damaged, or missing damper assemblies for proper external venting installation.
We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. We ran the duct up a closet wall and through its ceiling into the attic. We had to make an offset duct piece from 3.25" x 10" metal duct to clear a... Read more
Fixes microwaves with no power or that stop mid-cycle. This thermostat switch monitors temperature and protects against overheating. Simple repair.
This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. First checked all 3 door switches with continuity tester, all ok. Had advice to check thermostat switches, which were all supposedly NC (normally closed), used same tester. Found one thermo that was open, ordered and installed replacement, but oven still dead. Used heat gun to warm the open thermo (while not installed) and using tester again, found that... Read more
Microwave not heating or humming loudly? The high-voltage diode converts AC to DC for the magnetron. Repair takes 30-45 minutes with basic tools.
I replaced both the Magnetron and the high voltage diode. I now have a fully functional microwave. I received the parts on time and the quality was good. I would use appliance parts pro's again. Read more
Grease filter for range hoods and over-the-range microwaves. Dimensions: 6-3/8" x 9-9/16" x 3/32" (6.375 x 9.5625 x 0.09375). Rectangle shape. Captures grease from cooking air. Replace when clogged, discolored, or every 6-12 months.
Microwave shuts down during use? This thermal cutoff thermostat prevents overheating by interrupting power when temperatures exceed safe limits.
My daughter that she turned timer on but hit cook with nothing in the microwave. I was able to figure it was one of the four thermal cutoffs. It was obvious which one literally fried. Replaced that one worked like it was new. Took a lot of photos while dismantling and labeled the screws. Wasn't that hard just be careful of the capacitor Read more
Fix a microwave that won't heat or makes loud humming noises. This high voltage capacitor often fails when the magnetron can't generate heat properly.
This run capacitor helps the appliance motor start and run smoothly by storing and releasing electrical energy. Replacing a worn capacitor can restore reliable motor operation and reduce abnormal motor noise or cycling. What it does:
Microwave not heating or heating unevenly? A failed magnetron is the likely cause. This high-voltage tube generates microwave energy to cook food.
This is a double oven so you must pull unit out of cabinet. After that you must pull microwave off of unit Read more
