Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spark at any of the four burners   Robert S. • Hollister , CA • August 26, 2016

Sealed burner gas cooktop has to be removed from the counter top in order to disassemble. This means disconnecting the gas line. To disassemble the unit you will have to remove the gas line regulator. Once the unit is separated you will see the spark module. I replaced the module. Note: Because the new module has been updated from the original it does look different. I suggest you put the new module along side the old taking one wire at a time from the old to the new. If your unit is as old as... Read more

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 3149653

This lower oven thermostat regulates oven temperature for accurate baking and roasting. Replaces a failed temperature-sensing thermostat to restore consistent oven heat and reliable cooking results. What it does:

  • Senses oven cavity temperature and signals the control to cycle the heating element
  • Stops oven overheating or underheating when the thermostat is functioning correctly
  • Commonly replaced for inconsistent temperatures, oven running too hot/too cold, or no temperature control
  • Works as the lower-oven temperature regulator in ranges with separate upper/lower oven controls
What's included: One lower oven thermostat Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before beginning any service
  • Handle the sensing bulb and capillary tube carefully; do not kink or sharply bend
  • Verify oven is fully cooled and remove oven racks for access before installation

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven would not heat.   Thomas H. • Lafayette , LA • November 06, 2017

I tested the temperature sensor with my multimeter and found it reading 2000 ohms instead of 1000. I ordered the part, installed it and saved lots of money. I was considering buying a new oven but thought I would give it a shot and with all the information available it was easy. Read more

Capacitor
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11123481

The CAPACITOR is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. As a crucial electrical component, the capacitor works to start and run the compressor motor safely. It prevents voltage fluctuations and helps extend the life of the compressor.

Causes of a bad capacitor can include failure over time due to heat cycling inside the refrigerator or freezer. Capacitors do not last forever with constant use.

Symptoms of a bad or failing capacitor include:

  • Compressor not starting or running intermittently
  • Loud humming or buzzing sounds coming from the refrigerator
  • Temperature control issues with cooling performance
  • Frost or ice buildup inside refrigerator or freezer

Replacing the capacitor with this OEM Whirlpool part restores the reliable startup and operation of the refrigerator's compressor. It keeps contents safely stored at the proper temperature.

This replacement capacitor is also compatible for use in Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore-brand refrigerators.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchenaid wine cooler not cooling   George W. • Carrollton , MS • October 19, 2019

I was told the two most common part failures were the start relay and the thermostat. Ordered them both plus a new start capacitor. Relay/Capacitor was an easy 5-minute fix! Unfortunately, that alone did not fix my problem...The thermostat replacement was more involved. Once the back was removed, I had to chisel away the foam insulation the reveal the tube that the thermostat wire ran through. I used some heavy scissors to make a slit in the tube and followed the thermostat wire as far as... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Spark igniter was cracked on kitchenaid cooktop   Doris P. • Amherst , VA • February 08, 2016

Shut off the gas and electric. Then removed the screws from the bottom the cover easily fell off. Gently pulled the wire and the clamp off the igniter, replaced the old igniter with the new, put the wire and clamp back. Plugged the cook-top and switched the gas on. And wallah it worked! For us it was a two man job because of the weight of the wooden shelf underneath our cook-top set up, But if your set up underneath is clear it is a one person job, but much easier to have someone there to help... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My electric oven would not fully heat up   Richard Z. • Avon , MN • December 20, 2014

The first thing I did was call appliance pros. The tec told me it was a good chance it was the thermostat. He told how to test it with my ohm meter and what range it should be in. I pulled it out and tested it, which was out of the limits he told me it should be in. So I ordered the part. When it arrived in two days, I installed it. The oven now works perfect. Thank you so much. I was just about to go spend $800 on a new oven, and instead fixed it for $75. Awesome website. It was... Read more
