I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. I have a Whirlpool RBS245PDQ12 wall mount oven. Gathering information from AppliancePartsPros.com resulted in two possibilities: The Thermal Switch or the Control Panel. Talking with Appliance Parts Pros led to testing the Oven Temperature Sensor. It's supposed to test at 1080 Ohms at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Mine tested at 960 Ohms so I knew it was bad... DISCONNECT CIRCUIT BREAKER!!!. Remove oven door. Remove two screws that attach the element to the back of the oven, and two screws that secure element to the oven roof, then remove element. Had to be careful that the four wires don't slip into the back of the oven (difficult) to keep them from falling back as they are very short. Remove and replace element. Removed the Microwave from the wall, then had to almost completely disassemble the sheet metal surrounding the microwave unit itself. Lots of screws and wires to work around. Takes 2 people to remove the microwave and set it on a stand outside of the wall unit. Once you get to the light bulb, the replacement is easy, just very challenging to get to the light bulb. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. The most difficult part was figuring out how to take the door off as the manual instructions were not clear. Thank you, YouTube for your help. This door doesn't have the more modern release latches. You open the door all the way and stick Allen wrenches into the holes that appear by the joint of the latch. When you close the door to 3/4 or 7/8 closed, the latches are released from the unit and by holding the sides of the door, you pull it out. The whole replacement would take around an hour,... Replaced it. It took over 4 months to get the part due to a lack of inventory. I initially ordered from another supplier who after several months sent an incorrect part. Shifted to AppliancePartsPros. They confirmed the inventory shortage and gave me a two-month delivery estimate. About a month into the wait, they provided an update. The next update was noticed. This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one. Read more

While cleaning the microwave, I accidentally dislodged the porcelain bracket. It shattered when it fell to the floor. I inserted the tab of the replacement bracket into the punched opening at a right angle, then rotated it to lock it in. The fix was simple and only took seconds to complete. Read more
