Replaced Magnetron and diode. Fixed problem and microwave workso again. Very time consuming because of microwave/oven built-in combo. Not easy to get to parts that needed to be replaced. Still cheaper to repair than to replace. Read more

Tested the High Voltage Capacitor which showing no capacitance and no resistance. Replaced it together with the diode and the line fuse no longer blew and the microwave is back in service. Read more

Replaced seal. Ordered seal on Monday, had it Tuesday. It was the exact seal for the oven. It took longer to clean up the oven around seal groove than to remove and replace the seal. Read more

I recently shattered the outer glass on my Whirlpool oven door. (Side note for lesson learned...don't swat at a fly with a broom when its on the oven door. I didnt swing hard just a love tap but thats all it took ha ha) The toughest part of the fix was removing the broken glass as it had shattered into hundreds...no thousands of pieces. Whirlpool convection oven. Access to convection element from inside. Three screws to remove plate covering fan blade. Then one screw to remove element bracket. I placed tape over the holes with the wires so they wouldn’t pull back into the panel. Remove old element at tabs and replace. Very easy fix. Removing door to oven made it easier to get to but not necessary. Read more

I replaced the magnetron and diode. I don't know if the diode was bad, but since the majority of the work was taking the case apart, I figured it was easier to do it at the same time as the magnetron. The replacement magnetron I received was dented at the emitter end, but seems to work fine. Studied schematics and watched many on-line videos. Did some electrical checks with VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter). Determined that control panel thermal fuse attached to back of control panel had opened due to high temp. Determined that the upper oven thermal fuse on back of oven had opened due to high temp. Determined that transformer that supplies power to lights was bad (open primary). Removed control panel circuit board and had it repaired/verified good.
