Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Two of the ignition electrode was not working and the torx screws holding the burner assembly were rusted so badly they are broken during dissassembly   Huseyin K. • Auburn , AL • October 27, 2014

Screw
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10491985

The Range Screw is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is a small but essential component used to secure various parts and panels of the range. It is designed to fit securely into pre-drilled holes, holding components tightly in place.

There are a few factors that can lead to a bad Range Screw. Over time, screws may become loose or stripped due to frequent use or inadequate tightening. Accidental cross-threading or overtightening can also damage the screw or the surrounding components.

Symptoms of a bad screw may include loose or wobbly parts, rattling noises during operation, or difficulty in keeping components securely attached. This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Igniter was dead   Carlos B. • Austin , TX • January 28, 2017

My stove is probably 15 years old and when I was removing the screws that hold the burner in place on top of the stove top, both of them broke off so I had to replace the entire assembly. APP had all the parts I needed and were helpful on the phone. However when I was attempting to loosen the gas line to the burner the tubing wouldn't release from the brass nut and the tubing twisted too much. Even though it didn't appear broken I wasn't comfortable knowing the metal was surely weakened so I... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken outer glass on lower oven door   James F. • Durham , NC • May 03, 2015

I recently shattered the outer glass on my Whirlpool oven door. (Side note for lesson learned...don't swat at a fly with a broom when its on the oven door. I didnt swing hard just a love tap but thats all it took ha ha) The toughest part of the fix was removing the broken glass as it had shattered into hundreds...no thousands of pieces. Thankfully it was taped on the inside and that held some of it together. I placed the door in our garbage can and put on a pair of gloves with a scraper to... Read more

Gas Cooktop Surface Burner Orifice Holder
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10155786

The surface burner orifice holder is a brass or metal fitting that threads into the gas valve and holds the orifice, which is the small precisely sized opening that controls how much gas flows to a cooktop burner. Together with the orifice, it regulates flame size and ensures proper combustion. Replace this part if a burner produces an uneven, weak, or oversized flame, or if the holder is damaged, corroded, or leaking gas at the burner connection.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Rear big burner wouldn't light but could see spark emitted at bottom of ceramic igniter   John A. • North Aurora , IL • November 16, 2019

Ordered a replacement holder with a new ceramic igniter and installed it. The new unit would not quite fit correctly on the Metal stand. It took only a couple of minutes with a large file to remove some of the metal on each side of the metal prongs that locate the holder onto the stand. Once done, it was an easy assembly job and works just fine. Note: I ordered two of the Torx screws along with the holder and discovered this is a necessity since the old stainless screws have a barrel... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You A burner would not ignite electronically   John B. • Buford , GA • December 01, 2018

I decided to replace the whole orifice instead of just the 'spark plug'. In doing so it became apparent that the screws would not come off easily and so I purchased a couple of those to make sure I had enough just in case. Good thing, 2 were messed up taking them out. It was also pretty dirty after 13 years of cooking so I took the time to clean up most of the bits. It was a difficult thing to do and took me a while to get thru all the screws in correct order to remove the part and... Read more
