Lower brake bearing

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You After a process of elimination it turned out to be the brake assembly   Ken M. • Pierson , MI • September 13, 2016

I first replaced the two drive belts and the motor springs. That didn't fix it although they did need replacing. I then replaced the two bearings and the brake assy. The washer runs like new. If you replace the brake assembly, you should also replace the bearings. It will save a tear down later on. The Maytag repairman wanted $600.00 dollars to do the job. I did it for less than $200.00. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would only spin.   Byron V. • Bellevue , MI • February 04, 2020

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Vibration and clunking noises during spin cycle   Frank F. • Somers , CT • January 13, 2019

Before I took it apart I thought it had a broken tub tensioner spring. After some research, I thought it might be worn damper pads. Upon disassembly I found the springs and pads intact, pretty amazing for a 25 year old machine. All I did was re-lubricate the pads and put everything back together and give the spring adjusters a half a turn more tension. Test ran two loads and it ran perfect. As a side note, the springs that came and were supposed to be for my machine were too short, smaller... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You It wouldn't drain after the wash cycle nor would it rinse i had to go to another setting to make that happen   Marilyn O. • Eastlake , OH • May 11, 2015

My son put it in and showed me the part from the washer and the new part I ordered from you. They were exactly the same even though you and a local store said it 'may' work. The original manufacturers part has been discontinued. I could have gone to the local store however they would have had to order it from Michigan and once it was put in it couldn't be returned. Strange. So, it was a no-brainer for me to take a chance on you and I certainly made the right decision and will put you in my... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leak from tub seal   George G. • Hazleton , PA • May 22, 2020

This washing machine is 19 years old, had water leaking from tub seal. Not the most difficult job I have ever done but installing the tub and bolting to brackets is in a tight space for 2 of them and took about six hours due to checking disassembling and re-assembling on computer. In the end it probably saved me $800.00 that a new machine would have costs figuring a new would cost close to one thousand for a good one. The repair man I use did not want to get involved in the repair but wanted to... Read more
