Fix frost buildup in your freezer with this defrost heater. Solves cooling issues and prevents ice accumulation on evaporator coils. Moderate DIY repair.
I have had the unfortunate problem of fixing this previously, so knew what to order. I ordered the defrost sensor and heater... and replaced both. Honestly, all I needed was the sensor I did and ohm test and got 0 on it... meaning it was bad, but just in case I replaced the heater. The fridge works great now, but I would suggest if this is your first time with this issue, remove the panel, unplug both sensors from the fridge, and do and ohm test while they are still in the fridge... and then... I searched online and easily found the best price for the Front Plate Assembly to be AppliancePartsPros.com. Even though I didn't pay for two day shipping, the part was shipped the next day and received the following day (Saturday), outstanding service. Installing the piece was quite simple, requiring removing two screws, slipping the old part off of two retaining clips and disconnecting one wire connector. Reverse this to install new part. Was able to diagnose problem at AppliancePartsPros.com by entering the model #. This is apparently a common problem with this Refrigerator Replaced Light Socket Assembly, Lamp Reflector, Lamp Case and Lamp Cover. Also replaced the main circuit board (not sure if this was necessary). The wiring on the Light Socket Assembly was different than the original, so it was a bit confusing how to assemble it, and no screws were provided to attach it to the Lamp Reflector - figuring this out took most... Fridge won't cool or clicks on and off? The overload protector prevents compressor damage from overheating. Easy 30-minute DIY fix for most models.
Replaced the Thermistor Assembly and also picked up Overload Protection circuit per the comments posted by the "experts" on the web site. Both parts cheap enough. Replacing the parts took about a half hour most of which was moving the unit from the wall and removing the panel to get at the parts. Read more

I am very pleased that I did. I ordered the start relay, overload and capacitor with some help from Ilya at customer service to make sure I was getting the correct replacements. Installation was easy. The hardest thing was contorting my body into a position where I could... Read more
