I have an LG side by side refrigerator from 2004. It’s a great refrigerator, even after 19 years, with a giant ice storage bin that holds probably 15 pounds of ice. The ice maker quit making ice so I started looking for the replacement. The model number on the original ice maker is 5989JA0002G and that model number is no longer made. I found mixed information on what model number replaces the old one. The dimensions were my biggest concern because in the side by side the ice maker mounts on... Read more

Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com for less than $3.00. It took me less than 5 minutes to replace the part. I got two estimates to fix this and just to come out and look at the problem was $150 plus a 2nd trip out to replace the part. I ordered an extra for the left door and one for the right door. The alarm beeped for two days before I figured out that the light switch in the freezer was the problem. The light bulb- I thought - had burned out a long time ago, but it was actually frozen to where the light just would not come on. Apparently the freezer door had been left open long enough to thaw out the switch and now the light was working. Problem was that now it wasn't turning off even when the door closed. This was telling the unit that the door was open, hence the continuous... Read more
