It was suggested to replace both the fan/motor assembly and main circuit board since one can ruin the other. I replaced both the main control board and ice fan motor assembly as per the very well detailed instructional video by Appliance Parts Pros. The water filter cover 3550JD1128E attaches over the water filter and protects the water filter and head.
Ordered the parts, which was a pair of ice gears and the bar that connects them. Had to refer to upper freezer drawer to figure out how the gears fit into the rails. Turns out they snap into a plastic hub that is riveted on the rail. Took some effort to finally get them to snap on. At first it seemed like they would not fit.
