Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Noisy spin cycle   Gregory E. • Halifax , PA • April 17, 2017

I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier. If you are replacing the bearings, watch on line videos prior to performing the job. It will... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would not spin out clothes at final cycle   Melissa D. • Sullivan , IN • March 15, 2016

Once we found the hidden 'Troubleshooting Guide' in the control panel, we were able to run a diagnostic check on it. A voltmeter was VERY helpful, and after running through the steps, found that the "inertial unbalance switch" was bad. It was easy to get to by removing the door, front panel, and then lifting the top off...it is attached to the top of the tub. One screw needed removed from the switch, and then I slid the old one off and the new on! *I must say, it took longer to figure out... Read more

Basically rebuilt the washer from the ground up. Spent more money than a new washer but we have been so happy with the way this machine has worked over the last 19 years figured it would be money well spent. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Gas dryer would not ignite (no heat)   Jennifer L. • Holmen , WI • December 18, 2016

With a little research - found Appliance Parts Pros and the instructional video on how to repair the flat style dryer igniter. To my surprise - the repair video showed what appeared to be my exact model or very similar to it. I ordered the igniter kit as well as the hinge hole covers (the originals had crumbled after years of being on the dryer). The parts arrived at my doorstep in a couple days. I would have been able to make the repair in about 15-30 minutes - however, I took the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer heated but clothes weren't completely dry   Sherman M. • Little Rock , AR • November 05, 2015

After checking all the common reasons (vent, element, fuses, temp sensors, etc.), the only thing left was the Dryness Monitor. The "LESS" light came on, but the ""HIGH" light didn't. Removed the 5 screws on the rear cover, disconnected the 4 wire & single wire plugs and the unit just snaps out. Since my dryer is Almond colored and the part was for a White dryer, I took the one screw out holding the board and transferred it to the original housing. Reconnected the 4 wire & single wire plugs and... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You One of my springs was corroded i decided to replace both for even suspension   Eberhard K. • Huntington Beach , CA • October 18, 2016

I had to do this by myself and I knew the drum assembly is very heavy. I had watched a video online where they used a strap to hold up the drum. However, my drum had nothing to hook to. So, since I had the front and back off, I slid a 2x4 under the drum from front to back, supported the front of the 2x4, and then lifted the drum with a hydraulic floor jack from the back. After raising the drum the appropriate height, exchanging the springs was very easy..... Read more
