Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leaking/dripping from door of bottom of dishwasher door   Dan R. • Norwalk , OH • September 22, 2014

About a month ago, a sporadic drip was noticed on right hand bottom corner of dishwasher. Puddle would vary in size but nothing major. My first inclination was to change the door gasket (~$35 at a major online retailer) as this seemed reasonable to me and was a straightforward fix. Next wash cycle, no drip. However the drip returned the wash cycle after that, however this time at a different spot along the bottom of dishwasher door. I then replaced a deteriorated corner door seal (~$17... Read more

Water Level Switch (Float)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP99002560

This water level switch senses the dishwasher's tub float and controls the water inlet. Replacing a worn switch restores correct filling, helping prevent overfilling or dry cycles that can reduce cleaning performance. What it does:

  • Monitors the float position to open/close the fill circuit at the proper water level
  • Common symptoms: dishwasher won't fill or stops filling too soon
  • May also cause continuous filling/overfill if contacts are stuck closed
  • Intermittent operation can leave the tub underfilled and washing performance poor

What's included:

  • 1 water level (float) switch

Install notes:

  • Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Remove the toe/kick panel to access the switch near the float assembly under the tub
  • Note wire positions; transfer connectors one at a time and secure the switch in its bracket
  • The float moves freely and actuates the switch before reassembly and testing

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Will not drain
  • Won't start
  • Will not fill with water

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Diswasher would not start no lights no go !   Peter W. • Wilmington , NC • November 24, 2014

This past Tuesday as I was having my first cup of coffee, my wife says to me, "Would you like to start your day out with some bad news ?". Anyway, she tells me that our 15 year old Maytag dishwasher is "dead". This machine has been a "champ" at it's job, and "momma" has been very happy with it's service. And, it has been working, recently, just as good as the day we first used it. So, I started investigating. As background, I am a retired 68 year old (male) DIY'er. I was an Aviation... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Problem with detergent cup lid.   John M. • Craig , CO • November 27, 2017

The foam was shot on the detergent cup lid. Hard as a rock. Causing caking problems, dribble down the inside wall of the door and leaving lumps of detergent. Cut the door in half wit aviation snips and pulled out the two halves. Discovered at this point that the spring had gone soft. Bought one ahead of time, so I was set. Put the spring on the left pin, put the spring pin in the door, slipped the door into place (open) and put the right pin in with pliers. Door snaps open now. Read more

Removed dishwasher to replace spray arm pine--I replaced washer on pipe, too, and would recommend doing this just on principal. Removing dishwasher requires disconnecting power, water, and drain line--tools will vary depending on connections. i replaced drain line because original install was not done correctly--hose too short--You could probably do just this w/o pulling unit.
