I found a link on the internet that said the ribbon connector in the Maytag dishwashers corrode and short out. They said you could do a cheap fix by cleaning the corrosion off the "printed circuit wiring" on the ribbon connector and resealing the "wires" with liquid electrical tape. Changing baskets is no-brainer job, as they come complete with all plastics and rollers. Upper slides require removal of the stoppers, but this is easy task, just squeeze them and pull back.
