After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver. This safety interlock switch prevents your range from operating when the door is open or not properly secured. It ensures the appliance only functions when it's safe to do so by detecting door position. I noticed the spark from the electrode was weak, and sparking intermittently Upon visual inspection, I found the white insulation around the electrode had cracked on one, and was starting to show hairline cracks on the other. The electrode is held in by one screw underneath the stove top. On our particular unit, when you open the top oven door, there are two screws accessible on under the front of the stove top. The endcaps are tricky to install. You have to be carefull and make sure you remove all the screws, otherwise you WILL break the clips that the screws hold on to in your new endcaps.I broke two, but fortunately they were the ones that end up hidden, and the piece still fits perfectly.
