Prior to ordering parts I had pulled the pump strainer basket and cleaned it out. There was both soft and hard scale build up. The tub-to-pump hose was also pretty crusty/slimey. This is an electrically controlled water inlet valve that opens and closes to allow hot and cold water to flow into the washing machine during the fill cycle. It connects to the household water supply hoses at the back of the washer. Replace this valve if the washer is not filling with water, fills slowly, continues to fill when turned off, or leaks from the back of the machine.
Researched, then decided to try everything suggested. Cleaned the hidden filter under the washer, checked the lines and the water inlet valves, opened it up and found a hose rubbed thin because it wasn't clipped correctly during the manufacturing process.
