Fixes ice dispenser not dispensing or auger not turning. This motor assembly drives the auger shaft that moves ice from bin to chute. Moderate difficulty.
Replaced the motor, however not the easiest to do with the older refrigerators. First I had to remove the shelf that hold the ice bin. There is a small screw midway underneath the tray. Once removed the shelf is loose but still hard to remove. There is a side panel that is slotted andonce removed the shelf can then be removed, but not knowing that it is a very odd fitting unit. This is the chute component that directs water from the fill tube into the ice maker mold inside the freezer compartment. It ensures water flows accurately into the ice tray without spilling into the surrounding freezer area. Replace this part if water is leaking around the ice maker, ice forms outside the mold, or the chute is cracked or blocked with ice buildup.
