I took the bottom tray out of the freezer and found the coils iced up severely. I was reasonably sure the defrost timer was the problem and your tech said that was a good possibility. The gasket was the correct size, but the door style isn't very friendly for replacing the gasket. You have to push the new one into the existing slot and when you take out the old one the slot is too loose for a strong fit that retains the new gasket correctly. Solution, use a good grade of expanding glue, Gorilla Glue, and put a small bead around the backside of the gasket when you replace it. A small amount only.
