The door cable and pulley assembly controls the smooth opening and closing motion of your dishwasher door by managing its descent and preventing it from dropping too quickly. Located inside the door hinges, this assembly requires replacement when the door slams shut, won't stay open at various angles, or makes grinding noises during operation.
Once I located the parts involved in the factory exploded drawing I ordered a cable and spring. Then, when I had the dishwasher pulled out I saw that both cables had simply slipped off of their pulleys and that the door needed to be re-set properly into its drop-down metal studs.
