Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Installed new pump drain assembly. Word to the wise: Always check the small drain pouch located in the rear below the bottom screen cover for small particles (broken glass, broken plastic silverware, plastic wrap material that could be blocking the drainage inlet. Read more

The inlet sump was deteriorating and pieces of it were clogging the spray arms. The gasket/seal on the bottom of the door was also deteriorated and clogging the filters. That seal was only available on a new inner door. It took a few hours because of the new inner door and I was taking my time doing extra cleaning and such. It was worth it because the dishwasher does an amazing job now and the wife is happy again. We wanted to avoid buying a new one because this one matches our other... Read more
The instructions that came with replacing the detergent tank locknut were pretty clear. Separating the inner and outer surfaces of the door requires some care. The two surfaces are held together by a number of Phillips head screws. Once the two surfaces are loose, there is a ribbon cable, and a multi-pin IDC connector that connect the control panel on the front door, to the control module mounted on the inner door.
