I pulled out the old housing and unplugged the motor. It pretty much came out in pieces. Remove the plastic from the motor, then had to take a pair of vice grips to hold the spindle in place to remove the auger. Remove what was still attached to the old Housing. Cleaned everything up and put the whole unit back together. The motor looked like it was somewhat cooked but still worked, so I ordered a new motor and auger to replace it. I replaced the cracked valve cover assembly. After making sure the water pressure is off: I suggest anyone doing the same to mop all the water out of the valve with a rag before taking care to stick the Teflon seal loom in the O ring seal channels under the valve spool with Vaseline (so it doesn't move during assembly) and to make sure that the valve cover O ring is actually on the cover (instead of in the spool well) before tightening the cover in place with the five stainless screws.
