Ice dispenser not working or jamming? The ice bucket helix moves ice cubes to the crusher. Moderately difficult repair requiring full disassembly.
Ice was not being dispensed when lever was pushed in either crushed or cubed mode I removed the ice bin. After searching the web for reasons for this I pulled the bin out and started looking at auger assembly. I noticed that the sections of the Helix blades were missing. Ordered the Helix here at AAP and received the part the next day. I removed the Display Panel and unplugged all the connections from the Panel. I removed the Dispenser Housing Shield along with the Ice Shoot Shield and the Paddle Dispenser. Replaced the parts. Initially, in order to ensure the ice maker itself was still working, I did some repairs to test it. I repaired the cracked crusher cover with a plastic welder, I also repaired the glide bucket Lh with the plastic welder & some epoxy. Replaces the worn or cracked hinge bushing at the bottom of your refrigerator door. Installs on the lower hinge pin for smooth door movement and alignment.
Replaced upper and lower thimble's, lever arm, cam closure. Door stop was not the problem, but ordered it and replaced it too. The door of course has to come off, remove the top hinge, and lift it away. Lubricated moving parts with silicone spray. Be sure and put the door back in the open position, so the lever arm and cam closure can properly interact, then close the door. Remove the plastic grate at the bottom to get at the lever arm. Checked both door gaskets and tried to heat them back into shape but it did not work so I ordered the gasket replacements. they arrived two days later one was right the freezer door came in the wrong color but I used it anyways. It had a small tear in it which I repaired using super glue. Laid both gaskets out in the garage as they were warped pretty good.
