Ice dispenser not working or making noise? The auger helix transports ice from bin to chute. DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with video guidance.
Determined the helix lock was free wheeling on auger helix dispenser not allowing auger to dispense ice properly. Auger also replaced because it had some badly worn areas around the blade assembly. Using videos available for instructions on how to disassemble auger dispenser the job was fairly easy. While I had the assembly removed I also replaced the drive cup which appeared worn. Ordered new door seal for both doors (OEM GE parts from AppliancePartsPros.com.). Laid out new seals on flat surface (face down) to relax over night. Before installation I used a hair drier on high to heat and relax the seal, used drier more on wrinkled areas. Removed old seals and cleaned grooved and flat area with window cleaner.
